A saga drama about jewish gangsters in the 30s. It takes 3h50min because the director (Sergio Leone) likes slow scenes, sometimes too slow. The saga part of the story is well executed, at least story-wise. You can easily empathize with the characters and their regrets over their past choices. One thing that this movie does well is making you empathize with the main character for a long while, and suddenly show you something extremely reprehensible he's done.
