War

A great classic war film about the consequences of war camps and fraternizing with the enemy. One of my favorite all-time movies, and certainly in the top as far as war movies go.

A war movie about a group of soldiers with long sentences or even death sentences who are trained to 'fight.' It's not your typical war film, focused on the army's pariahs instead of knights with shining armor. It has consequences for actions, an original plot, and interesting development.

A wwii nazi concentration camp movie based on 'Operation Bernhard', where nazi Germany used concentration camp prisoners to counterfeit money to sink the Allies' economies. It's interesting to see the attitude of the different prisoners to the dilemma: should they help the Germans and save their lives, or sabotage them to win the war? Not all germans are portrayed as evil.

Two soldiers on a mission to deliver a critical message to the front lines need to traverse a long way there on foot. Shot as a single take, it's one of the best WWI movies.

A political drama war biopic about the Irish people after wwi and how Michael Collins succeeds with a guerrilla warfare against the UK. The romance part is meh and predictable. The most appealing part is how England offers the Irish a deal they know will split the Irish between accepting 'partial freedom' and a full-fledged 'republic', causing a civil war.

A wwii historical drama about a man who saves over 200,000 chinese during the 1937-1938 Nanjing massacre. There's romance filler and 'fool nazi' characters, but overall it's a good movie to watch. Better than Schindler's list. Here, not all nazis are evil, and it talks about a forgotten episode from wwii. It reminds me of 55 days at Peking, except more brutal.

A classic desert epic that follows a British officer during WWI in Arabia. Strong tragedy, explores how the main character empathizes with the Arabian people, even though the British government intends only to use them. Beautiful cinematography on top, the best desert-themed movie.

A Kubrick Vietnam war propaganda movie. I have mixed feelings about this. The boot camp part is pure gold comedy. After the soldiers exit the boot camp and reach Vietnam, things get just pointless and miserable.
