12 Angry Men
1957 · MovieMust-seeClassic legal drama where a jury deliberates on a murder trial and one skeptical juror forces everyone to carefully consider all the evidence. Likely the best legal movie and one that shows the wide range of biases and preconceptions that plague the human mind, as well as how eloquence and skepticism can stand against them.
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
1997 · MovieRecommendedA crime drama about the trial of a rich guy (Kevin Spacey) who kills his gay lover in self-defence. It's fresh, bizarre, and sometimes irrationally funny. The trial plot keeps you thinking whether Kevin Spacey really did it in self-defence or not. How the trial develops feels realistic and interesting.
Find Me Guilty
2006 · MovieRecommendedOne of the few movies where Vin Diesel shines for his acting and not for his muscles. The film is about a real mob trial where a gangster chose to defend himself turning the legal process into a circus.
The Caine mutiny
1954 · MovieMust-seeA wwii drama about a fictional mutiny aboard a US ship and the later trial of those involved. This is one of those rare movies that make you question your own judgments of actions. The aesthetics, setting and actors are on-point. The only small flaw is the filler surrounding the main character's life and girlfriend.
My Cousin Vinny
1992 · MovieNot reviewed yetRoman J. Israel, Esq.
2017 · MovieRecommendedA drama about a slightly autistic self-righteous liberal attorney who gets screwed over until he breaks the law. The movie's point is that people with the best intentions become corrupted when they step out of their safe ideological bubble into the real world.
