  1. Network

    1976 · Movie
    Must-see

A drama comedy about the corruption and corporatization of the television. It has some of the most memorable sentences of cinema's history, including ‘I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore.’ It's honest, funny, and frighteningly accurate in its predictions. Easily the best 70s movie and one of the best of all time.

  3. Taxi Driver

    1976 · Movie
    Recommended

A classic drama about a war vet working any job that will keep him from violence. The morally ambiguous antihero and the theme of a morally-decayed city often draw inspiration from this movie.

  4. A place in the sun

    1951 · Movie
    Must-see

A tragedy that actually makes you feel something. The only problem is that the love between the main character and the girl is exaggerated. However, it executes incredibly well his inner conflict.

  5. Matilda

    1996 · Movie
    Recommended

The main character is a little girl with horrible parents and school director, based on a book by Roald Dahl. The parents are amusingly cheap and shallow, and they don't care at all about the main character to the point where she asks to leave them and they are happy because she won't be a burden anymore.

  6. Better call Saul

    2015 · TV show
    Must-see

A drug trafficking drama prequel to Breaking Bad that is one of the best thriller drama shows.

  7. Recommended

A drama about a slightly autistic self-righteous liberal attorney who gets screwed over until he breaks the law. The movie's point is that people with the best intentions become corrupted when they step out of their safe ideological bubble into the real world.

  8. Germinal

    1993 · Movie
    Recommended

Brutal drama about the industrial revolution in France that shows the viewpoint of both the miserable workers and the industrialists.

  9. Moneyball

    2011 · Movie
    Must-see

A great sports movie about a revolutionary baseball general manager where the actual sports matches are not the focus.

  10. Recommended

A drama based on a real-life mutiny aboard an 18th century ship against a tyrannical captain. It's a film about men with honor and responsabilities and how they face adversity.

  11. The 400 blows

    1959 · TV show
    Recommended

A French drama that follows a 14 yo boy who struggles through life. It's a well-executed character-focused drama because even though there are no great events or consequences, you care for the main character and the metaphorical 400 blows he receives from his parents, school, friends, associates.
